DOTCOM REVOLUTION
Announcement video to commemorate the domain change to ead-labs.com. I wanted to make something that really jumps off the screen while staying in line with the bright aesthetic of EAD Labs.
heavily inspired by my favorite show of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion. I tried to replicate a lot of the UI SCREENS featured in the show. 1990s ui is actually quite easy to replicate because of the technical restrictions of that era.
All of the UI screens are merely a collection of planes, curves, circles, and other primitives modelled in blender. I utilized a lot of really clever techniques to make each shot look far more complex than it really was. One day I will do a full VFX breakdown of every shot because I'm really proud of some of the effects.
This video almost never happened - the original video to announce the domain change was blocked worldwide because of My song selection. Rather than change the song, I made an executive decision to completely redesign the video from scratch, and I'm unbelievably proud of the results. I had a blast making this video and I'm excited to utilize the things I learned in future projects.
